Material selection is important as I need to ensure that they are durable and light weight, as the structure will be transported.
Structure, Cladding & Insulation: Light weight prefabricated steel frame, cladded with polycarbonate transparent plastic. Cladded on both the exterior and interior of the frame. This will also provide a space for insulation
Lighting: On the inside of the structure LED lights are used to illuminate the structure at night. These LED lights can change colour and intensity based upon the production or activity happening at the time.
Polycarbonate Translucent Plastic:
Below are some images of buildings which have used Polycarbonate Translucent Plastic, which has been used in Steven Holl's Nelson-Atkins Museum. They have also used the same lighting system I will be using for my design.
Flooring: A 600mm deep false floor is constructed, this contains all the ducting and electrical wiring from the mechanical plan to generate the different components.
Theatre/Concert Hall
Seats: 260, which can be flat packed and taken out of the theatre to create a concert hall, for larger productions.
Ventilation: Auditorium is air-conditioned, for when the productions are on, needs to be a controlled climate and sealed space, for sound.
Lighting: Lights are attached to the steal structure, and are controlled in the open control booth at the back right side of the seating.
Audio: Speakers are attached to steel structure along with audio accredited panels attached to the ceiling structure
