theme group.

I found out I was allocated into Julain Conrads, Mobile 1 theme group; this theme is looking at Responsive Architecture. Below is a  you tube clip I found of an exhibition which took place in New York (2009). I believe this is a great representation of Responsive Architecture for two reasons;

1. The exhibition itself is  an interactive temperature responsive sculpture made out of, 'a category of metals that change shape according to temperature and offer the possibility of efficient, fluid movement without the mechanized motion of earlier technologies.'

2. The building the exhition is in, Storefront for Art and Architecture, designed by architect Steven Holl, is completely responsive and mobile to its surroundings, based upon its  occupancy. Its long punctured facade, can open up at different sections, creating unique spaces in the gallery and providing seats/spaces for the gallery goers to interact with.

Below are some images of the Reef sculpture, the exhibition at Storefront for Art and Architecture, and some of the building.
